Very serious Metal Gear Solid talk under here aka Why I think that this series is all about a man destroyed and broken because he loved too much + speculations on the fifth game.
For me, since the fourth game came out, I seriously think that Metal Gear Solid's story revolves around Big Boss and Ocelot. I'm not saying this lightly or kidding. I believe Kojima has already said that he wouldn't make a Metal Gear Solid game without Ocelot (Adamska) involved in it. And we all know how Big Boss (John) is incredibly important in this story. He is the source of all conflict, in all the games.
I am very pleased with John and Adamska's relationship in the series, simply because for once, I feel this is not queerbaiting.
Kojima has openly introduced us to homosexual characters, and their personnality and story did not revolve around their sexuality! Vamp is a very important character for example, and while his sex appeal is played with at times to be a little creepy, it did not play with any gay/queer stereotypes or hurtful representation (he is a villain, after all).
Same goes for Volgin, who was openly bisexual/sexual. I won't even talk about how Dave and Otakon are having an openly homoromantic asexual relationship.
Why do I feel like John and Adamska isn't queerbaiting? Well, for one, they make several hints in the third game, Volgin teasing Adamska about "being in love" with him, Adamska keeping John's bullet around his neck. Their whole relationship is written as simple as they do with other romantic relationships in metal gear, except, of course, most cishet male players refuse to see it because it's not a heterosexual relationship.
Why do I think Metal Gear Solid revolves around Big Boss and Ocelot? For the reasons cited above, and also for several others.

So you don't have to read all this at this point, because it's basically just the whole game through Ocelot and Big Boss' prespective:
During the Virtuous Mission/Operation Snake Eater, John fucks up and doesn't enter in contact with the CIA agent he was supposed to: Adamska. Meanwhile, Adam developes a crush on John. After the mission is over, Adam obsessed with John still manages to get in contact with him and follows him through the events of Portable Ops and as he is offered to work on a solo mission, he only agrees if John is with him. They proceed to create their own fucking military force in their own fucking country. Les Enfants Terrible project kinda fucks up (i still have some trouble understanding the whole deal)
Defeated once in Metal Gear, they rise again, defeated twice by Solid Snake in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, John is lost in the remains of the base— and I hope this is what MGS5 is about, and if my thinking is correct it should go like this:
Big Boss is held in a military base somewhere hidden, and basically everyone is after his body to continue their experiments to produce the perfect super soldier. John, high on pain killers -and probably drugged to hell so the scientist can continue their experiments- litterally has fantasies about the only person who truly loved him, Adamska, rescuing him as a cowboy knight upon a white steed, and a bandaged, faceless person guiding him out of the hell he is living (probably a representation of The Boss, the only other person who loved him, althoug he is too ashamed to imagine her saving him, as he is responsible for her death and public shame).
Meanwhile, for years and years on end, Ocelot tries to find a way to rescue his beloved John. it destroys him and changes him. Six years later, his plan is on tracks: In Metal Gear Solid he uses Liquid Snake's ambitions to get to his goal: They (I quote) threaten the U.S government with a nuclear reprisal if they do not receive the remains of the "legendary mercenary" Big Boss within 24 hours.
(If that's not love I don't know what that is)
Cleary, Adam's goal isn't in any way political or a need for power: He only wants Big Boss, that's how it starts. But to obtain Big Boss, he needs power. And the most threatening power in the world is the Metal Gear project.
Driven mad by the race for John's body and the power he accumulates, Adam feels weak compared to the magnitude of this war. He takes Liquid's arm to replace his severed one to feel closer (reminder that Les Enfants Terribles are the only closest thing Ocelot has to John, as they are his clones), and slowly sinks into madness. He developes an obsessive schizophrenia disorder by creating a second personality, Liquid's.
Almost exactly the same way he uses Liquid in Metal Gear Solid, Ocelot uses Solidus' ambitions via The Manhattan Incident. Ocelot understands that Weapons are not enough, he needs super soldiers, which is why he participates to Solidus' experiment. He understands that he was fooled in the end, since Solidus' experiment's purpose wasn't to create a super soldier, but to see if they could indeed manipulate humanity's personalities and memories.
In his madness for more and more power to blackmail all other countries who might hold the secret to Big Boss' location, Ocelot wants to hijack the whole system of modern war. He probably has lost sight of his first goal though, as power has driven him completely cray.
But at the and of Guns Of The Patriots, Ocelot and Snake fight their final battle. And as he knows he is already defeated, Ocelot is finally lucid for a couple of minutes, holding Snake to his chest and remembering why this all started. It all started with a man he met in Russia, a man who was "Pretty Good."
And he kisses his dream goodbye.
TL;DR motherfucking gays ruining my life and destroying the world in the name of love more like set fire to my body on the cross
